R.I.P. “Hush” and “Bruce”

I don’t know how it happened.  One day, Hush and Bruce were happily swimming around in their divided tank, and the next morning, Hush was on Bruce’s side of the tank.  Bruce was dead, and Hush was dying.  I was horrified.

Hush and Bruce were both male Betta fish.  You are supposed to keep them separated, or they will fight each other until the death.  Apparently, that is what happened.  Though I am still puzzled as to how Hush got on Bruce’s side of the tank.  The ONLY thing I can think of is he must have jumped over the divider.

After much shock at finding them like this, we prayerfully flushed them down the toilet to be with their Creator.
