The Noticer, by Andy Andrews

imagesSeems like I’ve read this before. I picked this book from the Thomas Nelson blogger reviews.

THE NOTICER, is about a man named “Jones” who appears in the lives of people just when they need him the most. His role is to offer a ‘different perspective’ of their current situation, so that they may change their lives for the positive. He is ageless and timeless and appeals to all ages.

As I read the book I kept waiting for something profound to hit me. It never happened. While I could relate to some of the situations in the book better than others, I found the ‘perspective’ as having been done before. It is a self-help book written in the form of short stories. There really is no original material here. If the author intended for us to be invested in these people, he falls short…so there really isn’t much of a story to invest in either.

I gave this book 3 stars because while it wasn’t that profound, it wasn’t awful either. Pick it up if you’re wallowing in self-pity and need a different perspective.
